LOST IN SPACE: RETURN FROM OUTER SPACE (TV)
Summary
One in this series of science fiction programs about the Robinsons, a family of space colonists from Earth who have become hopelessly "lost in space." In this episode, Penny is returning from a rock-gathering expedition when she is accidentally trapped in an alien machine's maser beam and disappears into thin air. Later, Will connects the machine with Penny's disappearance and uses the robot to reverse the beam and bring Penny back. In bed that night, Will has an idea about using the machine -- a matter-transfer unit -- to transport him back to earth; from there he can inform Alpha Control of his family's location and have a rescue ship sent to get everyone back to Earth. Will's plan takes effect the next day, and he is successfully transported by the robot to Earth, where he has four hours before the maser beam returns to send him back. On Earth Will meets a boy named Davey, who breaks Will's transmitter but offers Will the use of his telephone. Unfortunately, the operator won't let Will make the long distance call to Alpha Control, and neither will anyone else; everyone thinks him a runaway who is making up stories. Davey's Aunt Clara takes Will to see the sheriff. Meanwhile, back in outer space, Dr. Smith jeopardizes Will's return by reprogramming the robot and forcing it to leave its post at the matter-transfer unit. Finally, Davey begins to believe Will. Although it is now too late to contact Alpha Control, Davey helps Will get back in position for the maser beam. The robot makes it back to the machine just in time to bring Will home. Commercials deleted.
