BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: HUSH (TV)
Summary
One in this series about a teenage vampire slayer named Buffy and her colleagues, who fight an unending battle against the undead. This episode begins with a surreal dream sequence in which Buffy fantasizes about her new teaching assistant, Riley Finn. Although the dream ends as Buffy is face to face with a smiling monster, she awakens to find everything calm in Sunnydale, albeit deceptively so. Willow has joined a Wicca group to work on her burgeoning telekinetic powers, Xander and Anya are working through their relationship issues, Spike is settling in as a friendly vampire, and Giles is hosting an out-of-town guest. Not surprisingly, though, things start to get strange around the neighborhood: murdered bodies without hearts are turning up. One morning, Buffy wakes to find that she is unable to speak. She is not alone. Every single resident of Sunnydale has had his or her voice taken during the night. The gang rushes to Giles to see whether he has any insight into the matter. He concludes that the strange local activities closely resemble the plot of an obscure fairy tale called "The Gentlemen." The Gentlemen, he tells the assembled crew, are well dressed zombies who steal everyone's voices in the night so that no one can call for help when the group comes to take out people's hearts. According to the fairy tale, the only thing that can stop them is a human scream. Buffy announces that she will patrol the downtown area to make sure that nothing goes awry. When she starts to make her rounds and runs into a decidedly different Riley Finn from the one she has grown to like, she realizes that more is going on than she could have anticipated.
