Summary
Part one of two. One in this documentary series about the lives of contemporary American Indians. This edition focuses on Cliff "Poor Wolf" Sijohn, a Spokane Native American who teaches the songs and traditions of his culture to his children. The program begins with Sijohn showing his children the land and teaching them that "anyone who prevents you from seeing as far as you can see is your enemy." He then sings the "Morning Song" or "Wake-up Song" which begins the circle of song and starts the day. Segments of the program show Sijohn and his family performing traditional songs and dances in a school gymnasium, attending a "gathering" of the tribe, and tracking a deer. Throughout the program, Sijohn talks about the importance of remembering traditions and passing them on from generation to generation. Continues with T:61074.
