STRANGERS WITH CANDY: THE TRIP BACK {FIRST SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series that follows the exploits of Jerri Blank, a forty-six-year-old high-school freshman and self-described former "user, boozer, and loser." This episode opens as Jerri receives her first "D" on a test in Mr. Noblet's class; she is thrilled to have risen finally above "failing" territory. Mr. Noblet is quick to inform her, however, that if she fails the final exam, she will fail the class and will have to repeat freshman year. Although Jerri is determined not to fail, she finds herself lusting after a classmate whose penchant for marijuana has earned her a reputation as a "permanent freshman." Jerri's friend Orlando urges Jerri not to get involved with the girl, but Jerri caves in to temptation when the girl produces a joint from within her gym trunks. Almost immediately, Jerry has fallen back into a life of debauchery. She makes a bong in art class, insults her stepmother's friends (in the middle of a "Mad Mothers Against Drugs" meeting, no less), and stops studying altogether. Throughout her return to Bacchanalia, though, Jerri manages to avoid the bumbling undercover policeman who has infiltrated the school. After a particularly sordid bender, Jerri sleeps through her final exam and accidentally slits Orlando's throat with a Samurai sword. When she goes to visit Orlando in the hospital, she realizes the extent of her mistakes -- but it may be too late. Commercials deleted.
