STRANGERS WITH CANDY: HIT AND RUN (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series that follows the exploits of Jerri Blank, a forty-six-year-old high-school freshman and self-described former "user, boozer, and loser." In this episode, Jerri is fiddling with the tape deck of her car while driving and accidentally hits Mr. Jellineck, who has been trying to convince Mr. Noblet to go on a picnic with him. Instead of stopping, Jerri drives away, and, instead of checking to see whether Jellineck is okay, Noblet runs home. Later, while cleaning the blood from her car, Jerri finds Jellineck's face in the hood grate. An investigation to find the driver is launched; meanwhile, Noblet is torn with guilt about denying his "friendship" with Jellineck. Jerri fears being caught for what she did, and she wonders what to do with Jellineck's face, which is becoming hard and leathery. Finally, Jerri ties the face to a brick and throws it through the window of Principal Blackman's office. Doctors reattach the face, but admit that ninety percent of Jellineck's recovery must be mental; he has to want to recover -- and seems to have no will to do so. Eventually, the car is identified, but Jerri's brother Derrick is blamed for the accident. Just as Jerri is about to confess, she is saved by Jellineck's remarkable healing powers. Both Jerri and Noblet learn a valuable lesson: only tell the truth if you can't get away with a lie. Commercials deleted.
