DOOMSDAY FLIGHT, THE (TV)

Summary

This made-for-television drama, written by Rod Serling, focuses on a commercial airline flight with a bomb on board. As the passengers and crew prepare for International Airlines Flight Six, a bomber lurks around the airport. The viewer is slowly introduced to the passengers, including an elderly woman afraid of flying; the handsome and famous writer George Ducette; and an army corporal on his way home from Vietnam, injured when a bomb exploded under his bunk. Once the flight takes off, the bomber calls the airline to inform officials that he has put a bomb on the airplane. FBI agent Frank Thompson learns that the bomber wants a ransom of $100,000 in exchange for information on the location of the bomb. The bomber explains that the bomb is set to explode when the altitude in the plane drops, making it impossible for the plane to land. On board the plane, the steady crew members begin to search for the bomb, eventually telling the passengers of the situation as they need to comb the plane thoroughly. In the meantime, Thompson fields calls from the bomber, who, settled in at a bar getting increasingly drunk, slowly unveils his psychosis. A snooping reporter reveals that Thompson's wife is aboard the plane. As the crew on the ground, an airline executive, and Thompson and his crew work to track down the bomber, time and emotions run short for the people aboard Flight Six. Fuel begins to dwindle on the plane, and the movie comes to a tense conclusion. Commercials deleted.
