LIFE OF RILEY, THE: BABS' SCHOOL ELECTION {SECOND SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies about Chester A. Riley, a lovable loser, and his family. In this episode, Babs runs for president of the freshman class at her college, and Riley wants to help his little girl win -- particularly when he hears that the father of her opponent, a bank president, has provided his daughter with campaign funds. Riley takes the day off from work and goes to see "Honest Ed Feeny," a former politician for whom he campaigned years earlier. Feeny, who is clearly not above a little chicanery, tells Riley, "[Babs] won't lose. I'll send a couple of my hoods -- ahem, my political analysts -- down to look at the situation." Feeny's thugs don their idea of collegiate clothing and register several times to vote in the school election. Riley accidentally blows the whistle on them, and when Babs hears that the thugs were brought in by a friend of her father she is mortified. Neither she nor Peg will talk to Riley. Nevertheless, the next day Riley is back on campus, trying to buy a vote for his daughter by promising a shy young man that Babs will accompany him to the prom that evening. When the sun sets, Babs has won the election -- but the house soon fills up with young men to whom Riley has promised his daughter as a date. A melée ensues, and Peg and Riley must find a way to placate fifty-six angry young men. Commercials deleted.
