SOPRANOS, THE: PINE BARRENS (TV)
Summary
One in this darkly comic, dramatic series centering around the crime empire and family life of Tony Soprano, a modern-day Mafia boss. In this episode, Tony and his wife attend couples therapy, with few results. Meadow is sick and wants to have a low-key night with her boyfriend Jackie, but he has no interest in spending time with her when she's not in the mood for sex. Meadow suspects Jackie may be cheating on her, so she and a friend check on him. Meanwhile, Tony sends Paulie and Christopher to make a collection from a Russian named Valery. They get the money, but Paulie picks a fight with the guy and accidentally kills him. They decide to bury the body in the Pine Barrens; but after arriving in the snowy forest, Paulie and Chris discover their victim is still alive. Valery escapes, running blindly into the woods -- and curiously disappears. By the time Paulie and Chris realize they lost him, they have also lost their sense of direction and have no idea where the car is. In the bitter cold, they wander aimlessly, hungry and hostile. Paulie uses his cell phone to call Tony, and the two guys take refuge in a deserted van. Meanwhile, Tony has a meeting with Slava, and discovers that Valery is a former commando. Tony warns Paulie and Chris, and threatens that Valery must not make it out of the Pine Barrens alive. Back at home, Tony is forced to spend the evening with his in-laws and arrives late for dinner with Gloria. She forgives him, but freaks out when Tony has to leave to rescue Paulie and Chris.
