AS THE WORLD TURNS {DAVID STENBECK'S EULOGY} (TV)

Summary

One in this long-running daytime serial, set in the midwestern town of Oakdale. Deceased villain David Stenbeck narrates this episode from the grave. He explains that he has arranged his own requiem to the last detail in order to say good-bye to the five women who have meant the most to him. Each of the women receives a personal invitation from David in the mail. One by one, Emily Stewart, Lily Snyder, Denise Maynard, Molly Conlan, and Julia Snyder arrive at the funeral home. They mill around casually, waiting for the ceremony to begin. At the police station, Jack Snyder is perplexed to discover that Stenbeck didn't have a gun when he forced Julia to drive him to Chicago. At the funeral, the eulogy turns out to be a videotape in which Stenbeck himself addresses the women in his life, and each is forced to deal with the repercussions of his "legacy." Julia in particular is haunted by fear that, as threatened, David will expose her secret from beyond the grave, and she erupts into violence. Emily returns to the National Intruder, where she receives papers from Stenbeck's lawyer confirming his demands. Her assistant Chris suggests that Emily ask Craig Montgomery for a loan. Meanwhile, Molly joins Jake and Abigail at a restaurant and receives a scary surprise when she picks up a ringing pay telephone on the way to the rest room. At the police station, Jack is astonished to see Julia brought in for firing a gun at the funeral home. Commercials deleted.
