Summary
One in this dramatic series chronicling the love affairs
of two American girls living in Beijing who become
involved with the inhabitants of a traditional Chinese
courtyard. In this episode, Qingzi wins a new sports
car, while Tianming loses his job at the Japanese car
company. At the car show, the foreign girls that
Tianming hired to model with the Japanese cars attract
lots of interest. In response, Louise's father, Jack,
decides to draw attention to his American cars by
offering a thousand dollars cash and a free car. Qingzi
is randomly selected, and after answering three
questions, he wins a new car. Qingzi is interviewed for
the news and says that he loves American cars. After
the show, Zhizi tells Tianming that the company has
found out about his affair with Jessie, and they do no
want his services anymore. Tianming tells Jessie the
news, and she attempts to console him, but not before
letting him know she has a hotel room, which they
eventually retreat to. Back at the courtyard, there is
much excitement surrounding Qingzi and his new car.
While tending to his car, Hua Dani comes to talk to
Qingzi in an attempt to ride in his car, but Qingzi and
Carrie pretend they are "together," prompting Miss Hua
to leave. Qingzi anxiously wants to drive his car, but
he doesn't have a driver's license or proper plates, so
it continues to sit outside the courtyard. At home, Mr.
and Mrs. Li talk with Zhen Zhen about their concern
about Tianming and his unemployment. Meanwhile, Jack's
assistant David tells him that there is some important
news regarding their Japanese car rivals, and
Tianliang: Tianliang's company is helping with the
importing of Japanese cars. Jack doesn't like that his
son-in-law is working for a competitor, and he hopes to
get Mr. Li and Tianming to persuade Tianliang to come
join his company. Moments later Mr. Li arrives to talk
to Jack about helping Tianming with a job, unaware that
Jack has plans of his own.
