CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: TED AND MARY (TV)
Summary
One in this series in which producer/comedian Larry David plays a slightly exaggerated version of himself who often ends up embroiled in misunderstandings and social faux pas. In this episode, Larry and Cheryl go bowling with Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. Everyone has a great time, with Ted and Mary even inviting Larry and Cheryl to a Paul Simon concert over the weekend. After bowling Larry finds out that someone has stolen his shoes, forcing him to go home in only his socks. That night Larry and Cheryl talk about how fond they now are of Ted and Mary, with Larry possibly being a little too smitten by Mary. The next day Mary calls to talk about the previous night, and Larry ends up weaseling his way into a shopping date with Mary and her mother at Barney's. At Barney's Larry buys the same jacket as Mary and orders a pair of the same shoes he had stolen. Then at lunch Larry mistakenly drinks Mary's mother's water and then jokingly acts like he's gagging. Later, both Ted and Cheryl are upset to hear of Larry's outing with Mary. The next day an employee at the bowling alley calls Larry, prompting him to confront his shoe stealer. He ends up getting his shoes back. That night, thinking it to be the night of the Simon concert, Larry and Cheryl sit around all evening waiting for Ted and Mary to call, but they never do. However, Larry and Cheryl were mistaken, the concert was for the next night.
