LIZA MINNELLI: SAM FOUND OUT: A TRIPLE PLAY {REVISED FINAL VERSION} (TV)
Summary
This program consists of three different plays -- each using virtually the same script and all starring Liza Minnelli -- in which a mysterious "Sam" factors into each climax. The first is a drama, written by Lanford Wilson, in which Minnelli plays a drug-addled hooker, "Sloppy" Jo, who an ex-cop tries to save from Sam. Mystery surrounds the relationship between the prostitute and the cop until the unexpected climax occurs, and Sam "finds out." In the second play, a romance written by Terrence McNally and Wendy Wasserstein, Minnelli plays a tap-dancing student trying to find love in the big city, possibly with Sam. That is, until she's swept off her feet by a fellow tapdancer, who lacks skill and has a big secret. In the third play, a musical by Kander & Ebb, Minnelli plays a woman whose potential nuptials are ruined because Sam finds out. Only this time, Sam isn't a person. Commercials deleted.
