DREAM ON: REACH OUT AND TOUCH YOURSELF (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about a publishing company employee named Martin Tupper whose thoughts become animated through black-and-white clips of old television shows. In this episode, while digging through his closet, Martin finds some old bar mitzvah bonds and suddenly has extra cash. Looking to Judith for some investment ideas, Martin comes away empty-handed. Then, Toby encourages Martin to invest $5,000 in her fledgling business, a stocks tip hotline. After some begging, Martin finally agrees to do it. The hotline receives no phone calls and thus makes no money, causing Martin to quickly realize he's wasted his investment funds. This leads to tension at work between Toby and Martin. One night, a caller mistakes Toby's hotline number (555-TIPS) for an S&M chatline. Quickly, Toby realizes she can make more money with a sexline. Though business is booming, Martin is distressed by the company's new direction, getting into a spat with Toby and eventually taking his $5,000 back -- about ten seconds earlier than he should have.
