DREAM ON: TRY NOT TO REMEMBER {SIXTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about a publishing company employee named Martin Tupper whose thoughts become animated through black-and-white clips of old television shows. In this episode, the sixth season opener, Martin struggles to climax with his lover, forcing him to fake orgasm. Judith is unable to treat Martin, recommending he go to a therapist, Joanne. At Joanne's office, she soon realizes that Martin is quite promiscuous. Recognizing her ability to assess situations quickly, Martin grows to trust Joanne enough to hypnotize him. That leads to him claiming that someone named "Tippy-Top" used to tickle him in the bathtub. Afterward, Joanne convinces Martin that maybe he has been repressing some sexual abuse from his childhood, further surmising that his Uncle Roy molested him. Soon, Martin is unable to get the name "Tippy-Top" out of his thoughts. Joanne offers one way for Martin to reach "closure" with his past: She suggests that they role-play, with him in the bath, and her taking the place of Uncle Roy/Tippy-Top. Later, Judith tells Martin that the role-playing therapy sounds radical and he is forced to admit that he still hasn't ejaculated. Then, Martin realizes where the "Tippy-Top" memory originated as a 1961 "G.E. Theater" show, "Tippy-Top" with Red Buttons and Ronny Howard, appears on his TV. After firing Joanne, Martin thinks he's finally in the clear. However, Martin has another looming memory that may prevent him from reaching orgasm.
