DREAM ON: FUTILE ATTRACTION (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about a publishing company employee named Martin Tupper whose thoughts become animated through black-and-white clips of old television shows. In this episode, Martin finds that he's been struggling to perform sexually since Judith and Richard's wedding. Judith convinces Martin to speak with a new therapist at her office. There, Martin tries to discuss his issue with Dr. Klein before running into an attractive woman, Elaine, in the waiting room. After Martin saves her from choking while in the elevator, she agrees to join him for dinner. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Martin, Elaine goes to therapy sessions with Judith, where she reveals that her new boyfriend -- Martin -- hasn't tried to have sex with her during their first three dates. Soon enough, Judith has realized that Elaine is dating Martin. That fact alarms her since the rage-filled Judith has a history of attacking her lovers after she has sex with them. As patient confidentiality rules won't allow Judith to warn Martin, she's soon seeing her own psychiatrist. Eventually, just as Martin is close to having sex for the first time with Elaine, Judith calls to try and warn him, though her efforts are futile. Finally, post-coitus, Elaine's crazy side emerges. Thanks to a deus ex machina, Martin survives -- leading to yet more couch time for Judith, Elaine, Dr. Klein, and the sexually recharged Martin.
