DREAM ON: HERE COMES THE BRIBE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about a publishing company employee named Martin Tupper whose thoughts become animated through black-and-white clips of old television shows. In this episode, Martin comes up with a great idea for a book while in the midst of sex. The next day, Martin pitches the novel's thriller concept to Gibby. However, he tailors the outline to Gibby's tastes: one man's search for the perfect fellatio. During the pitch, Gibby gets a phone call from his lawyer informing him that he is going to get deported unless he secures a green card. Gibby begs Martin to help him find an American woman to marry. He tells Martin that if he sets him up with Toby that he'll then greenlight his book. Toby finds the idea hysterical, until Martin informs her that she will get paid. Toby plays tough in negotiating with Gibby over the dollar amount, but finally accepts his compromise offer. Martin is psyched since Gibby will have to publish his book. Now, however, Toby is unable to focus on work as she prepares for her pseudo-wedding to Gibby. Soon, both Martin and especially Gibby are furious over Toby's high-priced accessories for the nuptials. Martin is touched when Toby asks him to give her away, despite the fact that he has to deal with Toby's sister, Gina -- an equal to Toby in surliness as well as stature. Then, at the wedding, Toby finds herself unable to go through with it. Even Martin sides with her, costing him his book deal. After exploding at both Martin and Toby, Gibby comes up with one final bargaining chip to get Toby down the aisle.
