LOS 15 DE PREMIO LO NUESTRO {FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY OF 'LO NUESTRO' LATIN MUSIC AWARDS} {SPANISH} (TV)

Summary

A retrospective look at the last 15 years of the 'Lo Nuestro' Latin Music Awards. Hosts Valentino Lanus, Sof’a Vergara, and Arath de la Torre interview celebrities on the red carpet and introduce clips, performances, and highlights from previous years' presentations of the awards. They also recognize three artists for their long careers and many appearances and awards at the ceremonies. The program begins with taped interviews of Latin musicians answering the question "What is music," including Alejandra Guzm‡n, Vikki Carr, Pete Astudillo, Gerardo Garc’a of Grupo Liberaci—n, Thal’a, JosŽ Luis Rodr’guez "El Puma," Georgie Montes of Son By Four, Pablo Montero, Angel L—pez, Olga Ta–—n, and JosŽ Fuentes "Pickles" of Fulanito. Hosts Lanus, Vergara, and de la Torre introduce the program from the red carpet at Hotel Delano in Miami Beach, Florida. The program begins with a medley of Pop music performances from past shows, and the acknowledgement of singer/songwriter Ana Gabriel with a "Special Recognition" for her artistic career. De la Torre chats with Marco Antonio Regil, the host of the ceremonies for the past few years. Lanus and Vergara introduce a video montage of artists who have become '"idols" in the course of their career, among them Marc Anthony, Enrique Iglesias, Elvis Crespo, Shakira, and Gloria EstŽfan. Thal’a reflects on what the Lo Nuestro Awards mean to her. The hosts next introduce a video montage about what happens behind-the-scenes at the awards, then another montage about the perils of live broadcasting. De la Torre chats with Lili EstŽfan, while in pre-taped segments Olga Ta–—n and JosŽ Luis Rodr’guez "El Puma" reflect on the Lo Nuestro Awards. The hosts narrate a segment in which Cristina Saralegui introduces the president of The Museum of Television & Radio, Robert M. Batscha; and Univisi—n news anchors Jorge Ramos and Mar’a Elena Salinas present an introductory video about the Museum, its mission, and the new joint initiative between the Museum and Univisi—n to archive Spanish-language television programming. Next, the hosts introduce a video montage of celebrities in attendance at the awards. In a pre-taped segment, Alejandra Guzm‡n reflects on the Lo Nuestro Awards. The hosts introduce a medley of Regional Mexican music performances from past shows, and recognize Marco Antonio Sol’s with a "Special Recognition" for his artistic career. De la Torre chats with Odalys Garc’a, while in a pre-taped segment El General reflects on the Lo Nuestro Awards. Then the hosts introduce a clip from the 2003 awards presentation: a medley of performances of past winning songs (Wilfredo Vargas performs "El Baile del perrito"; Lupe Esparza performs "Corazon duro"; Luis Enrique performs "Mi mundo"; La Mafia performs "Me estoy enamorando"; Ilegales perform "La Morena"; Vikki Carr performs "Cosas del amor"; the orchestra plays Selena's "Como la flor" while the microphone remains empty in recognition of the slain singer; Pete Astudillo performs "Como te estra–o"; former and current members of Son By Four perform "A puro dolor"; and Olga Ta–—n performs "Como olvidar").

In a pre-taped segment, Juanes reflects on the Lo Nuestro Awards. Next, the hosts introduce a video montage with highlights of performances of ballads from past years' shows, featuring the following artists: Alejandro Fern‡ndez, Roberto Carlos, Daniela Romo, Braulio, Cristian Castro, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Man‡, Son By Four, Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, Rocio Durcal and Juan Gabriel, Olga Ta–—n, and Gloria Estefan. Co-host Arath de la Torre chats with Olga Ta–—n, then introduces a video montage of mariachi performances from past years' shows, featuring the following artists: Mariachi Cobre, Lucero, Pepe Aguilar, Pedro Fern‡ndez, and Mariachi Vargas. In pre-taped segments, Banda El Recodo and Jenni Rivera reflect on the Lo Nuestro Awards. De la Torre chats with Luis Enrique, then Lanus and Vergara introduce a video montage of Tropical/Salsa performances from past years' shows, featuring the following artists: Celia Cruz, Grupo Niche, Frankie Ruiz, Sergio Vargas and Gisselle, Gilberto Santarosa, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Luis Enrique, Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40, Pochi y su Coco Band, Wilfrido Vargas, Jerry Rivera, Marc Anthony, and Olga Ta–—n. Next, the hosts introduce a medley of Olga Ta–—n's Lo Nuestro performances, and then acknowledge her with a "Special Recognition" for being the artist who has won the most Lo Nuestro awards in the past fifteen years. In a pre-taped segment, Cynthia Klitbo reflects on the Lo Nuestro Awards. The three co-hosts close the program, first with a video montage of winning moments and acceptance speeches, then with Selena's 1994 performance of "Amor prohibido" and "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom." Commercials deleted.
