LAW & ORDER {LAW AND ORDER}: CRIMINAL INTENT: CUBA LIBRE (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramas -- a spin-off of "Law & Order" -- that deals with the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of criminals, but with a slight twist: each episode begins from the criminal's point of view as the actual crime is committed. This episode concerns a millionaire criminal and the trail of blood that follows him. The episode begins with wealthy clothier Milt Winters's release from his two-year stint in prison on fraud charges and his immediate resumption of his heated relationship with his much younger wife Pam. When Pam is murdered later that night, Goren and Eames pick up the case and question the eccentric and fussy man. The next day, when Winters's attorney is killed, Goren begins suspecting the millionaire, who assures him that he has business enemies after him. Bank records send Goren and Eames to a Bronx beauty salon which leads the detectives back to the prison Winters was in and a noted drug kingpin Dempsey Powers. Evidence is found in a deck of "hit list" playing cards, and after talking with Winters's doctor, Goren is able to solve the case. After Winters is captured with help from his vengeful son Milt Winters, Jr., Goren realizes that Dempsey has been playing with them the entire time. Commercials deleted.
