TUCKER: PILOT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The pilot in this comedy series about family life as seen through the eyes of young teen Tucker Pierce. The episode begins with Tucker discussing how he feels badly for his mother, Jeannie, on the heels of his father running out on her. Tucker and the unemployed Jeannie are forced to temporarily move in with Tucker's crazy aunt, Claire, his goofy commercial pilot uncle, Jimmy, and their "mutant" son Leon. Jeannie worries about finding her first job in fifteen years as the insulting Claire assumes that she will face a struggle. Later, Claire thinks Tucker watched her undressing after he accidentally enters the bathroom when she's in there. The next morning, Tucker is awakened by Leon's loud and intolerable scissor-sharpening and quickly realizes he has been "scalped" to add to Leon's human hair collection. Tucker grows increasingly angry about their living situation, especially upon learning that his mother has to sleep on the couch. Then, Tucker discovers the one decent thing about his new environment -- the next door neighbor, the gorgeous McKenna Reed. Tucker tries to get the scoop on McKenna but Leon thinks his cousin has no prayer with her. Tucker implements a plan to woo McKenna. However, Claire quickly botches that by revealing to the entire neighborhood how he supposedly ogled her. Later, when Tucker tries to finally speak with McKenna, she sprays him with a hose for being "a pervert." However, soon enough the two teens have found common ground. That evening, Tucker is forced to dine alone with his aunt and cousin as Jeannie has gotten a waitress job. At the table, Leon erupts when his mom calls him "pumpkin" and by night's end the two cousins have become somewhat friendly due to their issues with Claire. Finally, Tucker receives a flirtateous gift from McKenna, a copy of one of her favorite books, "Lady Chatterley's Lover." Commercials deleted.
