NIGHT VISIONS: PASSENGER LIST, THE {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

The pilot in this anthology series which presents two tales of the supernatural in each episode. This tape presents the first tale from the premiere episode: "The Passenger List." The narrative opens after an airplane crash as the National Transportation Safety Board's Jeremy Bell investigates the scene mere moments after seeing the flight go down. Jeremy wonders if it is possible that any one could have survived the crash. Later, Jeremy speaks to the press, revealing what is known. Meanwhile, Jeremy continues to see images of a woman that looks like his grown daughter walking near him. Later, Jeremy receives a visit from Marilyn Lanier, a woman whose family was on the plane. Marilyn wishes for Jeremy to take her to the crash site, but he refuses. Marilyn tries to kiss Jeremy, but quickly realizes that she shouldn't. Then, Jeremy learns that the fuselage has been located and he returns to the woods. Jeremy believes the plane came apart in the air, despite what the other investigators think. Afterward, Jeremy tries to call his daughter Amanda, but her roommate Hallie notes that she is "gone."

Now, Jeremy begins thinking that Amanda may have been on the plane that crashed. However, Jeremy's co-worker notes that Amanda died two years ago. Nevertheless, feeling that he already knows what happened and that Amanda just died, Jeremy turns to drink. He soon begins noticing cracks everywhere he looks. Later that night, Jeremy receives another visit from Marilyn, who brings him a cake and discusses how her husband and children died in the crash. Then, Marilyn again begins kissing Jeremy and he eagerly reciprocates. They are interrupted by a phone call telling Jeremy to come to the coroner's tent. There, the coroner reveals the body of someone not on the passenger list. Before Jeremy can see the body, he gets a call from Amanda, elating him. Afterward, Jeremy looks at the dead body -- and sees it to be his own. Jeremy snaps out of a dream to find himself seated next to Marilyn on an in-flight airplane. On the flight, he soon notices the glass holding his Scotch is cracked, as well as the cabin ceiling. Finally, the airplane breaks apart in the air and plummets toward the ground, killing Jeremy, Marilyn, and every other passenger. As NTSB investigators comb the scene, they question Jeremy's whereabouts, even as his beeper goes off among the detritus. Commercials deleted.
