GUIDING LIGHT {PROM} (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running daytime serial about the residents of the midwestern town of Springfield. In this episode, while the youth of Springfield get ready to go to the prom, Cassie and Edmund consummate their relationship, and Ben harasses Eden. At Company, Marina is appalled to learn that Frank and Buzz are chaperoning the prom; she is somewhat mollified when Frank agrees to invite Darci, who has ingratiated herself to Marina with gifts and styling help. At the Lewis home, Josh and Reva cajole Shayne into posing for some pre-prom pictures. Over at the Spaulding mansion, Beth, Alan, and Lizzie can't agree on an "appropriate" dress. In the meantime, Cassie and Edmund finally consummate their relationship, but the afterglow is dulled when Tammy calls with a prom dress emergency; Cassie gives Tammy a San Cristobel dress to wear, and Edmund presents her with a corsage and limousine. The Lewises and Coopers gather to send Marina and Shayne off to the prom; the young couple bask in the glow of mutual and familial admiration. In the meantime, Ben teases Eden about the serial killer and rejects her offers of financial help before getting drunk; when Lizzie calls suggesting he attend the prom to see Marina, he agrees. Commercials deleted.
(The title of this series was "The Guiding Light" on radio from 1937 to 1956 and on television from 1952 to 1977; in 1977 the title was changed to "Guiding Light.")
