LA ACADEMIA {THE ACADEMY} {FIRST GENERATION, CONCERT #16} {TAPE 3 OF 3} {SPANISH} (TV)
Summary
Continued from T:79339. Tape three of three. One is this reality series in which young and talented, but unknown, singers are chosen from a national pool of contestants to become live-in "students" at "The Academy," where they will perfect their skills and possibly get a recording deal and a performing career. The contestants practice vocals and choreography for the televised concerts, hosted by Alan Tacher, where a panel of music industry judges gives advice on what skills to work on. In addition, as the competition heats up, audiences from Mexico and the U.S. get to vote out one contestant at a time. This installment, the sixteenth concert from the first generation of Academy hopefuls, pits a field of nine against one another. In this segment, the program concludes with the announcement of who will be voted out of the Academy. Host Tacher, however, begins with the welcome announcement that the record that the contestants put together has sold more than 500,000 copies. The contestants then sing the Hymn of the Academy, composed especially for them by Janette Chao and Oscar Lopez (who are introduced on stage after the song). Then, the most tense moment arrives, Alan reveals that Laura is voted off, and Laura doesn't know what to do except to smile. All the other contestants gather around her and hug her, and Laura begins to cry and then leaves the stage painfully. Laura is then transported to another set where her family and other contestants who were voted out in previous weeks are waiting for her.
