ANGEL DE LA GUARDA, MI DULCE COMPANIA {GUARDIAN
ANGEL, MY SWEET COMPANY} {PREMIERE} {SPANISH} (TV)

Summary

The premiere episode of this telenovela about a guardian angel who assumes human form. Guardian angel Miguel Angel is assigned to protect Gustavo Almanza, the chief executive of a toy company, but he is far more interested in Gustavo's fiancŽe Carolina Falla. Gustavo's friend and coworker Fernando is also interested in Carolina, and in assuming control of the toy company himself. On the eve of the wedding, Gustavo is struck by a car and killed, and Miguel Angel, having failed to keep track of his charge, is sent to earth in human form to make amends. He cannot get emotionally involved with a human and cannot tell any lies while he resides on earth, but he will be allowed to perform three miracles to accomplish his objectives. Still somewhat confused by his new human state, Miguel Angel attends Gustavo's funeral where he meets Carolina, introducing himself as Miguel Angel Cruz. He is moved by emotion at meeting her, but when he tries to explain his connection to Gustavo, he is overcome by a laughing fit -- a side effect of his attempt to lie about his origins. Meanwhile, Fernando and Carolina's father Antonio try to deal with the fallout over Gustavo's failure to sign some important papers regarding the toy company before his death. Although angel Rafael tries to guide him, Miguel Angel's first attempts to get settled go awry when he is held up at knifepoint -- and runs into Carolina in the midst of the robbery.
