The first segment, "Paula's Baby Shower" (from October 8, 1993), is anchored by Zahn and Harry Smith, with weatherman Mark McEwan and featuring Skitch Henderson playing the piano. During the segment, Zahn's neighbor Mary Tyler Moore brings baby gifts, Marla Maples offers greetings via satellite from Florida and Candice Bergan gives advice on the birthing process by showing "Murphy Brown" clips. In addition, David Letterman presents a top ten list of "CBS Maternity Perks," and Vice President Al Gore and wife Tipper provide parental advice. Afterward, Jacqueline Adams reports on Toni Morrison winning the Nobel Prize for literature. Then, Smith reports on some of the day's other stories: billionaire publisher Walter Annenberg giving a $25 million grant to Northwestern Univerity; Johnny Bench being accused of inflating the price of his autographed baseballs on the Home Shopping Network; Massachusetts Governer William Weld with baseball legend Ted Williams announcing the selection of the name for the city's newest tunnel: the Ted Williams Tunnel; a preview of game three of the American League Championship series; and a baby tiger being rescued from a drainpipe at the San Antonio Zoo. McEwan then tells of the day's weather. The baby shower festivities resume with Zahn's competitors, Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel of "Today" offering good wishes. Then, more morning show stalwarts, Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford, offer their own thoughts. Also, the "Good Morning America" crew, Charles Gibson, Joan Lunden, and Spencer Christian, present wishes and a small gift. Then, McEwan reports on the weather. Finally, Zahn is presented with a cake. In the next segment, "CBS This Morning in Monaco," the show visits Monte Carlo (this segment lacks audio). After footage of Monaco sites, Zahn interviews Prince Albert, the Crown Prince of Monaco. In the third segment, the introduction to her "A Few Good Women" series, Zahn attends marine boot camp at the Parris Island Marine Base in South Carolina. First, Zahn displays the gear she has to wear before discussing her previous day's activities with Smith. In the fourth segment, the first in her five-day "A Few Good Women" series, Zahn discusses the changes the marine corps has made in the fifty-two years since they have allowed women to join. She also undergoes a combat survival swim and a simulated biological weapons attack. Then, footage show Zahn attempting the "confidence course." Back in studio, Zahn offers some thoughts on dealing with screaming drill instructors. In the third "A Few Good Women segment, Zahn examines why women decide to join the marines.
