TRUE COLORS: YO' HOUSE MAMA {PART 2 OF 2} (TV)

Summary

The second of two programs on this tape. One in this Baltimore-based comedy series about an interracial marriage and the blended family it creates. In part two of this two-part episode, with Ellen now busy, Lester tries to take over breakfast duties -- without much success. Then, Katie heads off to cheerleading practice before Ellen asks Terry for his opinion on a sing-along she wants to have at the fraternity. Terry is getting concerned about how his stepmother is going to be taken by the brothers. Terry still doesn't want his brothers to know that he's related to Ellen. At the frat, the brothers try to play card games instead of Ellen's suggested game of Twister. Terry begins getting questioned about where he found Ellen. Next, Ellen makes the Alpha Kappas discuss their feelings and sing in glee-club style. Terry is getting increasingly uncertain about having his stepmother as the housemother. He speaks with Lester and Katie about the situation, feeling remorse for having guilted Ellen into passing up the subbing job she really wanted. Meanwhile, the brothers are starting to like Ellen more, but the frat has become the laughingstock of campus -- at least according to the girlfriend of one of the members. They subsequently decide that Ellen isn't "down" with them and discuss her negatively, not realizing she is in the other room listening. They decide that they should just dump Ellen and Terry wholeheartedly agrees. The next morning, Ellen sneaks back into the frat house to retrieve her stuff and accidentally wakes up the brothers. Just then, Dean Thomas arrives, seeing the kidnapped school mascot, a mule, now residing in the living room. The Dean is furious, but Ellen figures out a way to get him to loosen up and stay off their case. Afterward, the brothers are upset to have lost Ellen, admitting she was actually good for them. Ultimately, Terry admits that Ellen is his stepmother. That evening, Terry thanks Ellen for helping out Alpha Kappa and she admits that she overheard the brothers talking the previous night. He apologizes after she says that she's angry and hurt about being used by him. Finally, the frat brothers return to anoint Ellen as their "honorary housemama." Commercials deleted.
