STEPHEN KING'S KINGDOM HOSPITAL: BLACK NOISE {EPISODE 7} (TV)

Summary

The seventh in this thirteen-part miniseries, developed by Stephen King and based on Lars von Trier's "The Kingdom," about ghostly happenings experienced by staff and visitors at a hospital in Lewiston, Maine. This episode begins as a jury is assembled for trial, with Kingdom maintenance worker Johnny B. Goode not showing up for the jurors' pool. One potential juror accuses the plaintiff's lawyer, Sheldon Fleischer, of having had sex with her underage daughter while she worked for him, then firing her after her forced abortion caused health problems. This accusation causes the attorney to have a heart attack. Meanwhile, Lona looks over seismologist Dr. Richard Shwartzton, who claims Kingdom suffers from "black noise," which he explains as "sound frozen in space and time and later released." Richard, who is thought by the doctors to be an alcoholic, has been hired by the hospital board to prove that Kingdom's tremors are normal and not associated with the supernatural. Richard also sees Mary beside him.

Later, Dr. Stegman gets a call from the hospital's attorney, Myron Overdick, who wants to know about Mona's case. During the call, Dr. Stegman notices some rats in his office and phones Janis McManus, who's filling in for the absent Johnny. Meanwhile, Dr. Hook and Christine frolic in bed. Then, while Louis tries to rescue the severely burned Rolf, Sally watches nearby. She sneaks into the room to speak briefly with Peter. Meanwhile, Richard starts seeing and hearing Antubis. Later, Dr. Hook and Natalie try to speak with Peter, who is still unable to make his mouth move. Thus, on a sheet of paper he begins to sketch something. At the same time, the headless Frank walks the corridors of the empty hospital, holding his detached noggin. Elmer is suspected by Louis of having been the person that desecrated Frank's corpse. Meanwhile, the doctors operate on Sheldon, scared that the amoral lawyer may sue them if they screw up in any way. Thus, Dr. Hook carefully documents all steps related to Sheldon's procedure. Afterward, Dr. Hook returns to Natalie, telling her that Peter's injury may have brought on aphasia, leaving him unable to form words or write. Then, Natalie shows him what Peter just drew -- a picture of Sally.

Later, Rolf is moved out of Peter's room but the artist is immediately given another roommate: the alcoholic Richard. At the same time, Sally speaks with Bobby, telling her son that she now knows that the little girl's name is Mary. Sally wishes for Bobby to search through the hospital's medical records to find out about Mary's history. Meanwhile, Dr. Hook tells Sheldon's wife, Kitty, that her husband quickly needs a heart transplant but that finding a donor will be difficult. Meanwhile, Sheldon worries about Kitty learning of his pedophilic incident. Sheldon's law partner, Geoffrey Wilkster, encourages him to fall into a coma if he wants the firm to be saved from the suit filed by the mother of Sheldon's victim. Sheldon is also taken aback when Rolf is moved into his hospital room. Later, Jesse asks the other Keepers to support Dr. Stegman in his case against the Klingermans. Jesse also wants to figure out a rational explanation for the seemingly supernatural phenomena occurring in the building. At the same time, Sally tries to locate Mary in order to help her. Later, Sally returns to Peter and is welcomed with open arms by Natalie. After the Keepers' meeting, Dr. Stegman makes fun of Dr. Hook for thinking that there are truly ghosts in the building. Dr. Stegman changes his tune when Blondi walks down the hall carrying Frank's severed head. Finally, Richard wakes up after hearing loud pounding and feeling vibrations, not realizing that it's caused by Frank's corpse -- which is searching for its head. He urges Sally to go get his instruments so that he can capture the disturbances. Also, Antubis pays a menacing visit to Sheldon. Includes commercials.
