BROOKLYN BRIDGE: GET A JOB (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic series about a middle-class Jewish family living in Brooklyn, New York, in the 1950s.
In this episode, George and Jules unsuccessfully try to fix the television, making Alan wonder why they don't just call a repairman. Sophie insists that Cousin Bernard is perfectly capable of the repairs, and that only a family member should be coming into the apartment. Then, Sid arrives to discuss some business with Alan, asking that he and his friends help cater a wedding for him.
Later, Alan, Benny, and Warren practice their duties with Sid. On the day of the ceremony, the boys load Sid's truck and set up for the reception. There, Warren eyes sixteen-year-old bridesmaid Daphne, who openly flirts with him. Meanwhile, Benny eats a tray of herring and smokes one of Sid's cigars.
Later, Warren brings Daphne back to the kitchen, impressing Alan and Benny. Soon enough, Daphne and Warren, as well as Alan and Benny, are doing the bunny hop on the dance floor. Not surprisingly, Sid is upset, using the opportunity to lower the boys' hourly wages. Then, a visibly ill Benny goes to throw up while Warren further slacks off to hokey pokey with Daphne. With his pants soaked from an accident with the punchbowl, Alan disappears to dry off his clothes. Now, a furious Sid is all alone to fend for himself.
At the same time, Bernard drops by to fix the Silvers' TV set. Then, Sid calls George to report on Alan and the boys goofing off. George and Jules head to the wedding and thrive after taking over the catering duties. Afterward, George explains about responsibility to Alan, and how he blew things for Sid. Alan goes to Sid's diner and offers to make it up to him. Sid tries to explain how he earns his livelihood, and why the wedding was so important to him. Finally, Sid lets Alan square his debt by washing his shop's windows as Benny and Warren also pitch in. Commercials deleted.
