WEEDS: YOU CAN'T MISS THE BEAR {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The pilot in this comedy about a suburban widow turned marijuana dealer. The episode begins after the death of housewife Nancy Botwin's husband, as she is faced with the realization that she may now lack the necessary income to maintain her upper-middle-class lifestyle. While visiting the family from whom she occasionally buys drugs -- Heylia James, the powerful matriarch of an inner-city family, and her rascally nephew Conrad -- Nancy decides that she could deal pot in her own neighborhood to supplement finances. Meanwhile, Nancy's friend and sometimes nemesis, PTA president Celia Hodes, works on trying to catch her daughter Quinn in an intimate moment with Nancy's teenage son Silas. Later, Nancy's younger son Shane takes part in a soccer game where bully Deven Rensler teases him about having "fruit punch lipstick" lips, inciting Shane to violence. When Silas later asks Shane if he's wearing lipstick, Shane tells why he has "lipsticky lips" before offering some unexpected revelations. Next, Nancy deals with the reckless behavior of pot-smoking councilman Doug Wilson. The episode ends with Nancy hitting a new low: blackmailing rival drug dealer Josh -- Doug's teenage son -- after she catches him in flagrante delicto with hunky neighbor Hiram Wells. This program is closed-captioned.
