BIG LOVE: THE CEREMONY {FIRST SEASON FINALE} (TV)

Summary

One in this drama series about polygamist Bill Henrickson, who has three wives, three families, and three houses in a Salt Lake City suburb. In this episode, the season one finale, Bill and Joey prepare to attend the United Effort Brotherhood priesthood council meeting, attempting to neutralize Roman. Barb prepares for the event at the governor's mansion as Nicki rants about how "full" of herself Barb has become since becoming a Mother of the Year nominee. Meanwhile, Roman and Alby discuss what to do to contain Bill. Alby visits Wanda, asking for Joey and issuing threats, before she serves him an antifreeze cocktail. Rhonda continues living with the Henricksons, leading Barb to wonder if she would like to begin school in their neighborhood. Joey returns home to find a passed-out Alby, freaking out about Wanda having returned to her old habits of poisoning people. At the UEB meeting, Roman is shocked by the Henrickson brothers' appearance and quickly ends the session. Meanwhile, Wendy, after learning about Barb's real life, feels that she needs to "help" Bill in lieu of his "betrayal." Nicki has similar feelings, thinking Barb should "pull out" in accepting the award. Elsewhere, Bill learns of Wanda's actions and puts his own game plan in motion. Adaleen then arrives at Bill's home, demanding that Rhonda return to the compound. Ultimately, Nicki surprises everyone by deciding to attend the ceremony -- and even dressing up. However, right before everyone leaves, Barb realizes she is short two tickets, preventing Margene and Nicki from going. At the ceremony, a tip from an unknown source about Barb being a polygamist leads to her being quietly disqualified. At the same time, Margene and Nicki have a Mexican dinner together, discussing how their lives may have turned out had they not married Bill. As Roman monitors Alby in the hospital, Bill and the rest of the Henricksons return home, worrying about how being "exposed" may affect everyone.
