AS THE WORLD TURNS {OAKDALE DIVAS' DISASTER} (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running daytime serial, set in the midwestern town of Oakdale. In this flashback-filled episode, Lucinda, Kim, Barbara, Emma, Lisa, and Susan board a bus with Nancy, heading for a ceremony to honor Nancy's fifty years of community service. On the bus, Susan informs a surprised Barbara that their children -- Paul and Emily -- had a wedding at the jail the previous day. Once at the ceremony, all the women praise Nancy and her many achievements before Nancy offers her own acceptance thoughts (as clips show highlights from her past in Oakdale). On the bus ride home, the women crave coffee, so Barbara insists that the driver take a shortcut -- which lands the bus in a ditch and Kim banged up. When the bus driver leaves to search for help, the women build a fire as they grumble about their situation and begin fighting amongst themselves. Feeling picked on, Barbara ends up alone in the woods, thinking about the mess she's made of her life and how it has affected her children. When eating a candy bar she finds in her pocket, Barbara attracts a bear's attention and flees. Back at the bus, the women start to reminisce about their lives, past romances, and the men they've shared. Then, Barbara inadvertently leads the bear back to the camp. After Lucinda leads the group in scaring him away through song, Barbara tries to take control of the situation and start the bus -- but it tips over, pinning Lucinda and ultimately forcing the contentious women to work together to save Lucinda and themselves. Commercials deleted, excepting announcements of a sponsor and contest.
