GREY'S ANATOMY: DETERIORATION OF THE FIGHT OR FLIGHT RESPONSE {SECOND SEASON FINALE} {PART 1 OF 2} (TV)
Summary
The first of two programs on this tape. The second season finale in this dramatic medical series about the lives and loves of a group of surgeons at a Seattle hospital. In the first half of this two-part episode, Derek tries to save Preston's life after he has been shot. In another part of the hospital, intern surgeons -- unaware of Preston's crisis -- await his arrival so that he can perform a heart transplant on Denny. Izzie has other -- arguably insane -- plans for Denny: cutting his essential LVAD wire to make his condition more grave, thus moving him up on the heart transplant list. Meanwhile, Addison examines Richard's high school-aged niece Camille, who suffered complications while losing her virginity during the prom. Eventually, Seattle Grace is inundated with prom-goers showing their support for Camille while Derek starts to notice that Preston's hands may have nerve damage, putting him in jeopardy of losing his surgical abilities. Later, Richard admits to Derek about having had an affair years earlier with Ellis Grey while Denny mumbles out a surprise marriage proposal to Izzie. With George, Meredith, Cristina and Izzie struggling to keep Denny alive, Miranda eventually discovers their secret situation and is angered. With Alex stalling Mercy West's heart transplant surgeons, the interns try to convince Miranda that Denny's need for a heart transplant outweighs those of other patients. Soon, both Preston and Denny are in surgery, with Derek attempting to save his friend's nerves while the interns worry about getting kicked out of the program for their unorthodox actions. As Derek struggles with a "wake-up" test on Preston, Cristina is called in to help. Derek and Richard complete Denny's transplant surgery but his donor heart does not begin beating immediately on its own. Includes commercials. Continues on T:89545.
