AMERICAN INVENTOR: THE FINALE RESULTS SHOW {SEASON ONE FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The season finale results show in the reality series which is a search for the country's best undiscovered inventor. The program, live from Hollywood, begins with host Matt Gallant explaining that by hour's end one of the four finalists will collect the million-dollar grand prize. The finalists' inventions include The Catch (a bar that's placed in front of the body to help one catch footballs), Double Traction Bike (a bicycle with a seat on the handlebars), Word Ace (a board game involving matching words and letters), and the Anecia Safety Capsule (a car seat shaped like a sphere with a movable sphere inside it to lessen impact in an accident). Then, Gallant introduces the finalists: Erik Thompson and his mentor Ed Evangelista; Francisco Patino and his mentor Mary Lou Quinlan; Ed Hall and his mentor Peter Jones; and Janusz Liberkowski and his mentor Doug Hall. Then, live via satellite from Thompson's hometown of Detroit, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick presents the inventor with a key to the city. Then, live via satellite from Queens College in New York, Patino's friends salute him. Then, live via satellite from Chicago, Hall's friends applaud him. Then, live via satellite from Los Gatos, California, Liberkowski's best friend, also named Janusz, discusses his buddy's chance of winning. Next, footage shows highlights from the previous show. Gallant discusses the contest's developments with the four judges. Then, Gallant eliminates the first finalist based on audience votes: Patino and his D-Track Bike. Gallant speaks with Patino, recapping his "incredible journey" on the program. Then, the vice president of industrial design at Trek Bicycles, Steve Baumann, comes onstage to offer Patino a product development internship. Legendary cyclist Lance Armstrong also offers a videotaped message to Patino. Next, Gallant eliminates another finalist: Thompson and The Catch. Gallant speaks with Thompson, recapping his experience on the program. Afterward, NFL wide receiver Jerry Rice takes the stage to applaud Thompson's efforts and offer his support in further development of the product. Then, footage highlights the judges' work on the program. Gallant asks the judges what they'll remember from the competition. Then, the show revisits the journeys of both Liberkowski and Hall. Gallant checks back with Hall and Liberkowski's hometowns for some final thoughts. Then, Gallant announces the winner: Liberkowski and his Anecia Safety Seat. Then, Mike Hirtle, the vice president of research and development at Hasbro Games, comes onstage to tell Hall that he will bring him to the company's headquarters and work with him to get Word Ace into the marketplace. Next, Rob Matteucci, the CEO of Evenflo, comes onstage, telling Liberkowski that he hopes to further develop his car seat. Finally, Gallant presents Liberkowski with a million-dollar check.
