KYLE XY: SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series centering on Kyle, an extraordinarily gifted young man with no memory of his past. In this episode, Kyle is amused at how the Tragers do something seemingly pointless at night called "sleep." He also tries to fathom the concept of time. While they slumber, Kyle goes exploring, trying different types of food in the refrigerator and watching -- and mimicking -- kung-fu movies on television. The Tragers are shocked to learn that Kyle hasn't slept once in the week he has lived with them. A detective comes to the house and probes Kyle, asking him if he recalls anything before the time he woke up in the woods. Later, Kyle is taken to see Dr. Stone, who is amazed by Kyle's brain X-rays, seemingly perfect teeth and lack of navel, wondering if he is a genetic anomaly. Meanwhile, Josh begins positing the theory that Kyle is an alien, from a planet where time runs at a different pace. Nicole encourages Kyle to draw pictures of his home but all he produces are more pictures of the forest where he was first seen. That night, despite Nicole and Stephen's best efforts, Kyle is still unable to tire and go to sleep. Later, when the Tragers nod off, Kyle goes wandering around outside, followed once again by a mysterious stranger in a van. Kyle soon runs into Amanda and speaks with her about how he doesn't remember his past. Later, he runs into Lori sneaking out of the house to meet with Declan, accidentally thwarting her plans. The next morning, the Tragers find Kyle outside staring at the stars, now convinced -- after hearing Josh's line of thinking -- that his alien family is soon to pick him up. Stephen is convinced that he needs to exhaust Kyle, thus taking him out jogging. Meanwhile, Nicole notices a bizarre line on one of Kyle's drawings. That night, Stephen and Nicole stay up watching Kyle to monitor his sleep-time behavior. This causes Stephen to oversleep the next morning and miss an important meeting, infuriating him. Kyle overhears them talking and runs away. The worried Tragers track Kyle down to the spot in the woods where he was "born." There, they find Kyle staring off into space and welcome him back into their family. Once returned to the Trager home, Kyle finally falls asleep, hitting on a most unusual method of achieving it. However, the dream which results is dominated by a frightening sight that may be crucial to Kyle's past. Includes commercials and promos.
