KNIGHTS OF PROSPERITY, THE: PILOT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

The premiere in this comedy series about a group of misfits who attempt to rob various celebrities. This episode introduces Eugene Gurkin, a twenty-year janitorial veteran, who dreams of bigger things. After one of his cohorts dies while working the night shift, Eugene tells his friend and co-worker Francis "Squatch" Squacieri that it is time for him to make a "move." Eugene decides to open a bar, but his dreams are crushed when the bank won't give him a loan. However, that night, Eugene watches a television show where rock star Mick Jagger displays his ritzy $52 million Central Park West apartment. Eugene then has a brainstorm: He will round up a gang of people to break into Jagger's luxury home and rob it. The gang -- dubbed the Knights of Prosperity -- comes to include Squatch, Gourishankar "Gary" Subramaniam, and Rockefeller Butts. The next day, at his usual diner, Eugene speaks with waitress Esperanza about his plans to rob Jagger. At the Knights' first meeting, Gary introduces Louis Plunk, the group's reluctant intern, before the gang decides that their first step is to "case" Jagger's apartment. The next day, the Knights' efforts result in photographs of Jagger's building. Back at their warehouse discussing future plans, Eugene and the Knights are interrupted by Esperanza, who arrives to say that she wants to join the Knights. The Knights' next step is to try and steal Jagger's house key, with Esperanza thinking they need to start "packing" guns while on the job. Finally, the Knights employ an elaborate plan to get copies of all the apartment building's keys. However, when they only get six of them, the Knight pray that one is 18A, Jagger's apartment number. Includes commercials.
