BACHELOR, THE: ROME: WEEK 7 {NINTH SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The finale in the ninth season of this reality series in which twenty-five single women vie for the affections of -- and a marriage proposal from -- one man, the Bachelor. In this special two-hour episode, Prince Lorenzo Borghese finally selects his "true love." The program begins by recounting the "fairy tale" that has taken place during the season, focusing on Lorenzo's dates with the final three bachelorettes, Jennifer Wilson, Sadie Murray, and Lisa Blank. Then, the program takes a closer look at the final two, Florida teacher Jennifer and California publicist Sadie. With Lorenzo struggling to make a decision, he enlists some help from his parents, Prince Francesco and Princess Amanda Borghese, who arrive in Rome to speak with their son. There, Amanda reveals a surprise, noting that she will design Lorenzo's engagement ring. Then, Jennifer meets Lorenzo's parents at a special luncheon. There, the Borgheses grill Jennifer and Lorenzo on their feelings toward each other. Also, Amanda reads Jennifer's palm. Afterward, Jennifer discusses having met Lorenzo's parents and how she thinks she could indeed be a future Borghese. Next, Sadie has dinner with the Borgheses. During the evening, Lorenzo's parents ask Sadie about her favorite date with their son. Later, Francesco asks Lorenzo if he likes both Jennifer and Sadie's family. Meanwhile, Amanda reads Sadie's palm before Sadie reveals to Amanda that she is still a virgin, saving herself for marriage. Afterward, Sadie discusses being embraced by the Borgheses and how she could see herself becoming a part of their family. Next, Jennifer's parents, Dennis and Sheryl, surprise her with a visit to the castle, where they discuss her chances as well as her love for Lorenzo. Then, Sadie's parents, Reid and Colleen, similarly surprise their daughter. Later, the Borgheses brunch with the Wilsons and Murrays, with an uncomfortable atmosphere ensuing. There, Francesco offers an Italian toast, noting that his son has a "tough" decision to make. Sadie hates the way everyone keeps talking about the situation's awkwardness while Jennifer is embarrassed by comments from her loud-mouthed football coach father. Then, Lorenzo makes a toast of his own, thanking both families for coming to Rome. After the brunch, the families leave, and "reality sets in" for both Jennifer and Sadie. The next day, Lorenzo asks both fathers for their blessing if he should request their daughter's hand in marriage. Meanwhile, the two bachelorettes talk things over with their mothers. Later, Sadie goes sailing with Lorenzo on what could be her last date with him. Afterward, the two drink wine and dine, discussing "comfortable silence" and their feelings on what the future may hold. Next, Jennifer gets one last chance to tell Lorenzo how she feels when the two go on a horseback riding date. Afterward, amidst a "symbolic" storm, Lorenzo and Jennifer enjoy burgers on the grill. Later that night, Lorenzo presses Jennifer to continue telling him about getting "scared" during their trip to Sweden. However, once he hears Jennifer's thoughts, Lorenzo is a bit speechless. The night ends with Lorenzo alone, confused and walking through the rain. The next morning, Lorenzo awakens, knowing that he will have to make his final selection by the end of the day. Lorenzo then goes to examine the engagement ring that his mother designed for the big day. Meanwhile, both Sadie and Jennifer prepare for the announcement. Soon, both women are in limos headed to meet with Lorenzo. Lorenzo discusses how he is going to go with his "gut and heart" in making the final decision. First, Lorenzo meets with Sadie, talking about their relationship that has emerged over the past several weeks. Ultimately, Lorenzo tells Sadie that he would rather be with Jennifer. While remaining calm, she tells Lorenzo that she wants him to be happy. However, back in her limo she tearfully admits that she thought the two "had something." After Lorenzo watches Sadie's limo drive away, he offers a teary reflection himself. Next, Jennifer arrives at the castle and Lorenzo gives her the last rose. Though he admits that he is not yet ready to marry Jennifer, Lorenzo says he wants to see if their relationship has legs once they return to America. Jennifer gleefully accepts the pseudo-proposal and Lorenzo's ring. Afterward, a montage recalls Lorenzo and Jennifer's journey together. Finally, host Chris Harrison announces the identity of the tenth bachelor. Includes commercials.
