UGLY BETTY: LOSE THE BOSS? (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy-drama series about Betty Suarez, a young Queens woman trying to make it in the fashion industry despite her unglamorous appearance.

In this episode, Daniel wakes up hungover in Queens at the Suarez house after having been rescued in his drunken state by Betty the previous night. Meanwhile, Wilhelmina finds a cashew on her office floor, leading her to suspect that Marc and Amanda may have been in her office engaging in a little monkey business during the recent holiday break. Betty, one of the few staffers that has to work during the paid holiday, runs into Sofia at the nearly empty Mode offices. Sofia is trying to decide whether to move to Maine with her boyfriend, or see what will happen with Daniel. While trying to sneak out of the Suarez house, Daniel is stopped by Ignacio, who convinces him to stay for breakfast. Back at the office, Bradford informs Wilhelmina that Mode has gotten the exclusive rights to the first photographs of Hollywood baby Chutney. With Daniel too hungover to work, Betty and Sofia handle the Chutney spread, along with stylist Bruno Jacobs.

Without Daniel around to offer his opinions, Betty struggles in dealing with Bruno, worried about the tempermental stylist's clothing decisions and work methods. Meanwhile, Daniel begins to start enjoying family life with the Suarezes, even pitching in to help them set up their Christmas tree. He also intercedes when Santos criticizes Justin for not being "a normal boy." Meanwhile, Bruno's methods become too radical, according to Betty, and she gets into an argument with him. He ultimately walks out. Now Betty is the boss for the day and must create her own photo spread.

Elsewhere, Wilhelmina and Marc -- on the way to JFK airport to pick up baby Chutney -- get into a spat with their Middle Eastern cabbie, who drops them off in the middle of nowhere -- sans Wilhelmina's bag. Betty comes up with a Queens' Garden of Eden theme for the Chutney shoot, but Daniel -- touched by his experience at the Suarez house -- gets another idea. Eventually, Betty ends up back at the Suarezes for the Chutney shoot while Daniel makes one last attempt to capture Sofia's heart. Finally, Marc begins blackmailing Wilhelmina after discovering her plan to take over the magazine, Sofia makes an intriguing offer to Betty, and Ignacio gets some late-night visitors that may change his life. Includes commercials.
