BROTHERS & SISTERS: AN ACT OF WILL (TV)

Summary

One in this drama series about the California-based Walker family, an adult clan of siblings trying to live up to their parents' lofty expectations after the death of the family patriarch.

In this episode, after William's funeral, Kitty moves back home with her mom, prepared to start her new job and maintaining that she hasn't permanently split from Jonathan. Justin further investigates Holly Harper, ultimately confronting her and learning that she had a longtime affair with William. At the same time, Sarah and Tommy confront Saul, who informs them that William overpaid himself from the company's pension fund, causing Ojai to be near bankruptcy. Saul insists that the family stick together and not alert authorities.

Later, Kevin goes over William's will with the family, angering Justin when he learns of some stipulations his father set up for his portion of the inheritance. At work, Kevin is caught off guard when asked by a witness he has to interview for a case if he is gay. Meanwhile, Saul informs Holly that she received zilch in William's will. Saul also tells her that it would probably be best if they are no longer friends. That same day, Nora learns that Justin hasn't shown up for work once that week and has been fired. Storming to the television studio, Nora tells Kitty that it's her responsibility to accompany her in finding Justin. Later, Sarah and Tommy visit Kevin to discuss their father's "serious embezzlement" and whether they should go to the authorities about it.

Meanwhile, Kitty and Nora pay a visit to Justin's pig sty of an apartment, finding pills and a naked, sleeping woman named Fawn. However, Justin is not there, and Fawn has no idea where he is. Eventually, they learn he is in jail, arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct. Meanwhile, Tommy is still angered over Sarah being promoted to company president, courtesy of William's will. Later, Sarah grabs a cup of coffee with Noah, a former co-worker and the subject of her infatuation. She talks about the future of Ojai and the pain of being so "in sync" with Noah. Elsewhere, Nora, Kitty, and Kevin debate the reasons why Justin may have slipped back into substance abuse.

Finally arriving at the police station, they struggle to get Justin bailed out; when they finally do, they find him belligerent. At the same time, Sarah thinks she's lets her family down when she is unable to locate a grass hula skirt for her daughter's Hawaii-themed recital. Ultimately, Nora, Kitty, and Kevin find themselves staying at a motel taking turns trying to talk sense into Justin. The episode ends with Sarah making the tough decision to do it Saul's "way" and try to put the company back together without first alerting the U.S. Attorney. Includes commercials.
