GUIDING LIGHT: SHE'S A MARVEL (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running daytime serial about the residents of the midwestern town of Springfield. In this comic book-inspired episode, Harley struggles to make Halloween costumes for Zach and Jude. Meanwhile, faulty wiring on her house lights causes a frustrated Harley to go outside to try and fix them. While outside, "trickers" wielding water balloons lead to Harley electrocuting herself. Once at the hospital, she comes to realize that she now has superpowers. Returning home, Harley tests her powers even further. Meanwhile, with the entire county's electricity on the fritz, Frank arrives to inform Harley and Gus that Dash and Bash -- the Carnage Twins -- have escaped from prison. Soon enough, Harley is facing off against the Twins at her father's restaurant, quickly capturing them and sending them back to jail. Afterward, Harley ponders the many secrets and sufferings of Springfield with her father, who's lighting a candle for Reva in hopes of aiding her breast cancer. Harley wonders if she can prevent the potential tragedies to which her enhanced hearing continually alerts her. Departing in a flash, Harley returns home, making herself a revealing costume (a cape and a shiny sports bra) and dubbing herself The Guiding Light. Now she is ready to protect all of Springfield from evildoers. Soon enough, however, Gus has learned about The Guiding Light -- ultimately, realizing that it is Harley. Now Gus has to convince Harley that it would serve her family better if she lost her superpowers. The only issue is how to return her to normal. Eventually, Rick realizes that a full-body submersion in water will return Harley back to her old self. Harley mulls returning to her normal life until she senses that there is one more criminal she must head to the docks to stop. Once getting there with Gus and unmasking the shadowy figure, Harley sees that her target has been Ashlee. However, Ashlee claims to have only been an informant for the blogger. Harley and Gus share an electric kiss before Harley dives into the water and leaves The Guiding Light behind, once and for all. Commercials deleted.
