YOUR HIT PARADE {CBS PREMIERE} {BARBARA COOK AND EDDIE HODGES FROM "THE MUSIC MAN"} (TV)

Summary

The CBS premiere of this series of music programs in which the show's regular singers perform "the top tunes all over America, as determined by your hit parade survey." The program opens with songs from this week's hit parade: hosts Dorothy Collins and Johnny Desmond singing "Rockin' Robin" and "Near You," followed by dancers performing "Tea For Two Cha Cha." The duo then discusses the popularity of long-playing records and how, for the first time, some of the original performers of the current hits will sing their own songs on this series. From the top-selling LP of the Broadway hit "The Music Man" Barbara Cook sings "Till There Was You" to child co-star Eddie Hodges and Hodges then sings "76 Trombones." The program continues with Collins and Desond performing a medley of the hits of 1935. Next the top twelve hit songs are announced and the top three current hit -- "Bird Dog," "Volare," and "All in te Game" -- are performed. Includes commercials.
