Summary
One in this series of comedy/variety programs hosted by Milton Berle. Berle, dressed as a tramp, delivers an opening monologue on income taxes. Program highlights include the following: the Stewart Morgan Dancers perform an acrobatic routine; Berle does impersonations of Lionel Barrymore, Jerry Lewis, and Peter Lorre, who then joins him on stage; Lorre performs a dramatic soliloquy entitled "The Man with the Head of Glass"; Berle does a spoof of a music recital; Broadway star Joan Roberts, the original Laurey in "Oklahoma!," sings the title song and "People Will Say We're in Love," from Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!"; Berle joins then Roberts in a swinging rendition of "This Can't Be Love" from the Rodgers and Hart musical "The Boys From Syracuse"; in a commercial for Texaco products, comedian Sid Stone portrays a pitchman for a miracle power pills; Berle and Lorre appear in a sketch entitled "The Cabinet of Dr. X"; and Irish tenor -- and former Brooklyn police officer -- Phil Regan sings "It's a Grand Night for Singing"; Regan then performs his number one hit "Peg O' My Heart" in an audience sing-a-long and sings "When Irish Eyes Are Singing"; and outfitted in police uniforms, Regan and Berle do a medley of Irish songs associated with the police force. Includes commercials. This program contains minor technical problems. This represents the best copy of this program currently available to the Museum.
