Murrow summarizes part one; H.F. Verwoerd, minister of Native Affairs, defines apartheid; Father Trevor Huddleston discusses why the missions closed their schools, and describes the purpose of the Native Education Act as the denial of equal rights; Sophiatown, a Bantu ghetto, is examined; a Bantu wife and mother from Sophiatown describes her family life; Afrikaner farmers discuss the problems of agriculture, native labor, and why the farmers support the Nationalist Party; J.G.N. Strauss of the United Party discusses apartheid; the African National Congress (the Bantu Party) is examined, with comments by Dr. A.B. Xuma on the white supremacist policy of the United and Nationalist Parties; in Prime Minister Strijdom's first radio broadcast, he reiterates his party's Christian principles; in a brief interview, Howard K. Smith asks Strijdom about the apartheid policy and the steps toward the country's evolution into the Republic of South Africa; Father Huddleston comments on Strijdom's open racism; South Africa's Indian population under apartheid is examined; and Smith summarizes the program and looks at the future of South Africa.
