WORLD: DEATH OF A PRINCESS (TV)
Summary
This dramatic historical recreation is based on interviews that were recorded in London, Paris, Beirut, and Saudi Arabia, between July and November 1978 by a reporter probing into the public executions of a princess and her commoner lover in Saudi Arabia in 1977. Christopher Ryder, a British journalist, hears the story of the princess at a dinner party and begins his investigation. Ryder interviews a British construction worker who witnessed the execution, travels to Beirut to find classmates of the princess, and talks with the governess of the royal family. Ryder goes to Saudi Arabia, learns about a woman's role in an Islamic society, uncovers other versions of the princess's affair and death, and struggles to discover the meaning of her death.
