
FRIDAYS {BILLY CRYSTAL, RANDY MEISNER AND THE SILVERADOS} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of late-night comedy/variety programs. This edition features guests Billy Crystal and Andy Kaufman and the music group, Randy Meisner and the Silverados. Highlights include: in the first skit, President Ronald Reagan (John Roarke) stars in a film called "Altered Statesman," in which he goes through experiments and is transformed into past presidents; the "Friday Edition" reports the top news stories of the day and also takes a look back at an altercation which occurred on last week's show involving Andy Kaufman, the cast, and members of the crew; Billy Crystal debuts a film entitled "A Comic's Line," which spoofs the traditions of backstage show-business sagas such as "All That Jazz" and "A Chorus Line"; Randy Meisner and the Silverados perform "Hearts on Fire"; in "Creative Palm Reading," a palm reader gives a customer a grim prediction of his future; a spoof of the television show "That's Incredible," called "That's Meshugge!," has two rabbis performing a death-defying stunt with matzohs; Nat E. Dred, the Rasta Gourmet Chef, introduces Randy Meisner and the Silverados who perform "This Time In My Life"; the show's producer John Moffitt makes a statement concerning the highly publicized incident on last week's show and Kaufman replies in turn with his statement about the altercation; and Crystal plays a former prizefighter trying to explain what life is really all about to his grandson who is caught up in the punk rock lifestyle. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements.
