Summary
The first episode of Eugene O'Neill's epic about the Mannon family, set in New England after the Civil War. Lavinia Mannon confronts her mother, Christine, with the fact that she knows Christine and the young sea captain Adam Brant are lovers. When alone with Brant, Christine plans to poison her husband, Ezra. The presentation concludes with "After Word," Erich Segal's personal view of the play.
