MAX LIEBMAN PRESENTS: THE FOLLIES OF SUZY (TV)
Summary
One in this irregularly scheduled series of special presentations of musical comedies and revues. In this original television musical comedy, playwright George Randolph suffers initially from writer's block as he tries to construct a play around a ballerina, Suzy who inhabits his dream world. George falls in love with Suzy. George is having trouble with his play and Suzy advises him. In one of the settings for George's play, Suzy works at gangster Lilac Louis's cabaret, where she sings "You're Driving Me Crazy"; a jealous George transports Suzy to a college social, where she dances to Paul Whiteman's Band playing "Moanin' Low," and a shy college boy sings "Take a Lesson from a Little Bird."
In a hazing by senior women, freshman Suzy is forced to imitate a fish, bird, duck, rabbit, frog, and train. After Suzy sings "There's a Little Bit of Bad in Every Good Girl," she confronts George for removing her from love scenes; George agrees to write a love scene for Suzy and sets the scene at Rector's Cafe in 1910, where the floor show concludes with "Be My Little Baby Bumblebee." As George writes and corrects his scenario, the characters Suzy and Rudolph Ravenswood mime their romantic tete-a-tete in a private dining room at Rector's; and George writes a big finale. Includes commercials.
