In this program, Howard Cosell and world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali preview their analysis of four former heavyweight champions; Bill Flemming and Jackie Stewart report from Daytona Beach, Fla., with taped highlights of the Daytona 125, the qualifying race for the Daytona 500; and Dave Diles reports with sports news updates. Cosell, with world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali at Ali's Deer Lake, Pennsylvania, training camp, begins a segment entitled "Muhammad Ali versus the Greatest Heavyweight Champions of All Time" in which Cosell and Ali discuss the careers of Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, and Max Baer.
In this portion, Cosell and Ali discuss fight accounts and/or fight films involving the following fighters: John L. Sullivan, Irish Paddy Ryan, Jim Corbett, Peter Courtney, Bob Fitzsimmons, Jim Jeffries, Tommy Burns, Jack Johnson, Jess Willard, Jack Dempsey, and Luis Firpo. Cosell and Ali then discuss fight films involving the following fighters: Gene Tunney, Georges Carpentier, and Jack Dempsey.
Dave Diles reports with sports news updates. Ali and Cosell resume their discussion of fight films involving the following fighters: Max Baer, Max Schmeling, and Primo Carnera. Includes commercials.
