UNITED STATES STEEL HOUR, THE: THE RACK (TV)

Summary

One in this anthology series, sponsored by United States Steel. In this drama, set during the Korean conflict, a young military officer is put on trial for collaborating with the communist enemy while being held in a prisoner of war camp. Capt. Ed Hall, Jr. admits to the activities with which he is charged, and wishes he had been quietly killed instead of being held prisoner, but isnÕt quite sure that he should be condemned for cracking under the circumstances. HallÕs father, a military man himself, is less forgiving of his sonÕs dishonorable behavior. Both the prosecutor and defense counsel are sympathetic to HallÕs situation and believe that he has probably been punished enough already. However, the military believes that they have to set an example to discourage soldiers from following in HallÕs footsteps in the future. The court finds Hall guilty, but Hall and his father make amends. Includes commercials.
