Summary
In this special program celebrating KTLA's thirty-fifth anniversary, producer Michael Linder probes the roots of broadcast news in Los Angeles, documenting the role of KTLA in the evolution of the craft. KTLA anchorman Hal Fishman and long-time reporter Stan Chambers return to the scene of Los Angeles's greatest news stories to illustrate how the years have changed those sites. The program features dramatic footage from KTLA's news archives, along with interviews with the reporters who covered the events. Those interviewed include Cleve Landsberg, son of KTLA founder Klaus Landsberg, and KTLA reporters Larry Scheer, Clete Roberts, Joseph Benti, and Bill Stout. Also included are clips from past KTLA broadcasts featuring Bob Hope, Kathy Fiscus, Nikita Khrushchev, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Robert F. Kennedy, the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., Gov. Edmund G. "Pat" Brown, Mayor Tom Bradley, Gov. George Deukmejian, and others.
