WORLD'S LARGEST TV STUDIO, THE {THE 1972 DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION} (TV)
Summary
This experimental video produced by TVTV (Top Value Television) looks at the 1972 Democratic National Convention. Those interviewed include Shirley MacLaine, Roger Mudd, Jerry Rubin, Willie Brown, and others. This program also features Gov. George Wallace of Alabama, Mayor Richard J. Daley of Chicago, Sen. George McGovern (D-S.D.), and others. TVTV produced this video prior to their first national broadcast in 1973. TVTV, an ad hoc collective of video artists and producers who pioneered a brand of countecultural broadcast journalism, produced a variety of programs for the TV Lab, which existed from 1973 to 1984.
Preservation of the Post–World War II American Television Documentary Collection is supported in part by a Federal Save America’s Treasures grant administered by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
