Summary

One in this ongoing series of dramas presented under the title "Masterpiece Theatre," hosted by Alistair Cooke. Part one of six in this World War II love story set against the backdrop of the Japanese invasion of Malaya and in the harsh environment of the post-war Australian outback. On a death march through Malaya, Australian prisoner of war Joe Harmon befriends Jean Paget, an Englishwoman. After the war, Jean returns to Australia only to find that Joe has gone to London to look for her. The lovers are finally reunited in the outback town of Alice Springs.
